The California Institute of Technology is a private university and a world center for scientific research and technology innovation. Thirty-two Nobel Prizes have been awarded to Caltech faculty and alumni.
As well as having an outstanding faculty, Caltech manages renowned facilities such as the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for space exploration, the W.M. Keck Observatory, and the Palomar Observatory. The Institute has about 900 undergraduate and 1200 graduate students, and 290 tenured faculty. The 124-acre campus is located in Pasadena, California, approximately 10 miles from downtown Los Angeles.
